When sinners in Acts chapter 2 asked, “What shall we do?” Peter said, “Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…” (Acts 2:38). Those that gladly received his word were baptized (Acts 2:41). When they were baptized for the forgiveness of sins, the Lord added them to the church (Acts 2:41, 47). We ask, what church was that? Was it a denomination? No, they did not exist. There was only one church the Lord had made; it was Christ’s church or in other words, the church of Christ. The church Christ built receives its directions not from any human creed but only the will of Christ revealed in the New Testament (Matt. 28:20). This is what we are striving to do here at 31-W North. Since that church had a simple worship, we have a simple worship. Since they had a simple organization, we have a simple organization. Since they had a simple work, we have a simple work. If you are interested in finding a church like the one you can read in the Bible, look no further. The Lord made His church just as He wanted to make it, come be a part of it!
Our Preacher:
Steve Monts has served as our local evangelist since 2002. He is committed to “preaching the word in season and out of season.” This involves “convincing, rebuking, and exhorting with all longsuffering and teaching” (2 Tim. 4:2). All here at 31-W North are committed to a faithful proclamation of God’s word. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers…” (2 Tim. 4:3). If you observe carefully, much preaching today is designed to scratch ears and pat backs instead of cut hearts. Steven is duty bound to preach as preachers in the Bible did and in the bold manner in which they did. We will support him as he remains true to this divine mandate (1 Pet. 4:11). We would encourage you to listen to his lessons with an open Bible and feel free to write if you would like to have more information.
Steven is blessed with his wonderful wife, Julie, and five children.
